The employment NOC, and what makes one credible
An NOC is a short letter, and most refused files contain one that is technically correct and completely unconvincing. What separates the two is whether an officer who picks up the phone will reach someone who confirms it.

Quick facts
- Format
- Company letterhead, signed
- Must state
- Role, salary, leave dates, return commitment
- Verification
- Assume the consulate will call
- Also needed
- 3 to 6 months of salary slips
What has to be in it
- Your full name as it appears on your passport, and your CNIC number
- Your job title and how long you have been employed
- Your monthly salary, matching what the bank statement shows arriving
- The exact leave dates approved, matching the travel dates on the form
- A sentence confirming you are expected back at work afterwards
- Company letterhead, a signature, a designation, and a date
- A phone number and email that are answered
The part people get wrong
The last line. Consulates verify. A number that rings out, an email that bounces, or an HR person who has never heard of the letter turns a supporting document into evidence against you.
Before submission, call the number on your own letter from a different phone and see who answers. That single check catches more problems than any amount of rewriting.
Salary has to agree with the bank
If the NOC says PKR 180,000 a month and the statement shows PKR 95,000 arriving, the file has a contradiction in it that the officer will find. Deductions, allowances and partial cash payment all have explanations, and the explanation belongs in the letter rather than left for someone to guess at.
If you own the business
Substitute the NOC with company registration documents, the tax return, and a letter on your own letterhead signed by a partner or the company secretary. A letter you have signed for yourself carries less weight, so back it with registration evidence and a bank account in the company name.
If you are a student, retired or not working
- Students: a letter from the institution confirming enrolment and that leave has been granted, plus the parent or sponsor's financial documents
- Retired: pension evidence and the account the pension is paid into
- Not working: this is the hardest profile. The file has to carry ties in another form, such as property, dependants, or a formally documented sponsor
